Optometrists are specifically educated, trained and licensed to examine the eye and surrounding structures for the purpose of prescribing eyewear or contact lenses.  All doctors are board certified optometrists and Dr. Kaplan specializes in comprehensive eye exams, as well as Sports Vision.

Marquerite M. Kohlhepp, M.D.

VITREO-RETINAL SPECIALIST

Marguerite Kohlhepp, M.D., is a Board Certified, Fellowship Trained, ophthalmologist, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retina disease. Her areas of expertise include macular degeneration and treatment with Lucentis and Macugen therapy, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, macular holes and retinal blood vessel blockages.


Dr. Kohlhepp received her medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She completed her Internship at Winthrop University Hospital, New York, and her Residency at Yeshiva University, an affiliate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. Continuing her subspeciality training, Dr. Kohlhepp completed a Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. Dr. Kohlhepp is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association and the Pasco County Medical Society.

Dr. Lawrence A. Seigel, in an continuing effort to formally reach out into the community to help others, successfully established the Suncoast Eye Center Foundation in 1985. These non-profit Foundations goals are to provide or obtain, necessary eye care and treatment for the needy in our community and educate the communities served by the Suncoast Eye Center about eye health care.

Eye Surgery Institute

The Suncoast Eye Surgery Institute first opened January 1989. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with two operating rooms, two laser suites and comfortable pre and post-operative areas.
